The 2024 Governor's Cup

2024 will be the 17th year Norfolk Island Golf Club has played host to the Governor's Cup. It is held in November each annually. This is a fantastic time to come and visit Norfolk as November is possibly our best climate of the year.
The Governor's Cup is unique event with players entering as a pair and playing 3 different types of games over the three days. While the main focus of the week is to have fun out on the course, there will still be strong competition with $10,000 worth of prizes on offer.

Day one – Tuesday is a 4 Ball Best Ball Stableford, Day two – Wednesday is a 2 Person Ambrose and Day three – Thursday is a 4 Ball Aggregate Stableford. Teams are awarded points based on where they finish amongst the field on each day’s play (e.g. if there are 50 teams of 2 players then the team that wins will collect 25 points, the team that comes second will collect 24 points....the team that comes 24th will collect 2 points and all other teams will collect 1 point). This unique point structure, along with the three different games, gives players of all different handicap levels a realistic chance of winning. The format also lends itself to having a high likelihood of been very close on the last day, which makes for some exciting golf.
The week starts on Monday with a welcome dinner, held at Governor's Lodge Resort, the tournament’s major sponsor. This dinner is included in player's entry fees with non playing partners being able to attend by purchasing extra tickets.
The golf is held over the next three days with daily presentations held at Norfolk Island Golf Club on Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Following the golf on Thursday, the daily and overall presentation dinner will be held at Governor's Lodge Resort. A two-course dinner is included in the entry fee and a great night of laughs and new friends is guaranteed.
The Governor's Cup is one of our major open tournaments at Norfolk Island Golf Club and always proves to be an exciting format for golf. What a great excuse to come and visit Norfolk Island!
